The roar of repeated laughter
My heart clicks like the sound of water dropping out of the faucet
In the presence of a soft and humorous day

In the tiny light charcoal car we laughed until we couldn’t any more
We were full of the sounds you hear from middle school girls,
When they had just hung up the phone from a prank call

The car stereo at medium volume
But that didn’t matter
All that mattered was we were friends having a good time

Entertained
Hilarious
“Daddy farted and our house blew up”

I realized what fun was
Kids in the playground running around screaming and having a good time
That’s what it felt like

Our cheeks were red
Like the sun setting beyond the windshield
